This is the senior version of the series, large bold pen 5-3/8 inches capped length. The pen is in ANTIQUE GRADE, of age more than a hundred years. Yet the condition is nice, very rare to find in the market. The pen set is in nice condition, with 18K gold filled overlay on black hard rubber. The overlay is in filigree basket pattern, very nice only some minor wears due to age. The imprint on the body is crisp; with WATERMANS embossed on cap. The trademark IDEAL globe are embossed on side lever and pocket clip. The pen is fitted with a Watermans 14ct solid gold nib, semi-flexible nib writing smooth medium line. A new sac is fitted, and the lever filling system is in nice condition. The pen been serviced and tested for its full functionality. This Watermans is a classic elegance and has been produced to the highest standards of craftsmanship. This would make an excellent gift to treat yourself or for someone special. The Waterman Pen Company was established in 1883 in New York City by Lewis Waterman. Watermans improvement on basic pen design and aggressive marketing played a vital role in making the fountain pen a mass-market object. The essential novelty of Watermans first fountain pens was the feed, for which his first pen-related patent was granted in 1884. By 1899, Lewis Waterman opened a factory in Montreal was was offering a variety of designs. Watermans opened subsidiaries in Europe to meet international demand. A Waterman Fountain pen won the Medal of Excellence at the 1900 Paris World Exposition. In 1901, upon Watermans death, his nephew took the business overseas and increased sales to 350,000 pens per year. Watermans fountain pen was extremely desirable.
