Description: Hard-to-Find 3 Piece Vintage set from Stratton of England includes:1) Powder Compact with Mirror (3 3/8") 2) Lipstick holder with hinged mirror ( ~ 2 1/2" x 1 1/4")3) Purse size Pill Box w liner (1 5/8 x 1 9/16)all adorned with a beautiful enamel type floral bouquet of flowers. The gracefully scalloped edges help highlight the whimpical bouquet of Roses, Morning Glories, Asters, Coreopsis, and other floral elements in shades of pink, lavender, yellow, and green. This "Queen Convertible" style of compact can hold either Pressed or Loose Powder, as it has an inner annular ring to hold both in. However, to use loose powder in it, you would need to purchase a "sifter", which still can be purchased today from Stratton dealers on-line. The compact mirror has a frosted rim around the outermost edge, which is a nice detail. Because of the "engined" back design with tiny chevrons, and the backmark "Stratton England" on the Compact, I believe the compact and mirror production dates to the 1970s-1980s. Interior of compact is stamped "Pat. 764125" The Pillbox is also in great condition and looks like it has never been used, as it has the original sticker on the inside liner. The liner is also marked "Mini-Box". The Pillbox is backmarked "Stratton Made in England" with a machined/embossed Star Pattern, rather than the chevrons on the Compact backside. I believe the pattern on the back of the Pillbox dates it to about 1965-1975. So overall the set is probably dated to 1970-1975. Made in the United Kingdom, this set is a great find for collectors of vintage vanity and beauty items. ALL 3 Pieces are in excellent shape and would also make a wonderful gift for someone special, Note: Minor wear to bottom of compact, which I did not notice until I magnified the pics. Hard to see w "naked eye". Also, it comes with the original Stratton Luxury Puff, however the top label of the puff needs to be reattached to the puff. (It looks like it was originally glued on, rather than sewn.)
