Description: Brown, cloth female doll from Trinidad West Indies with painted eyes and mouth and a molded nose. The doll is wearing a very full ruffled skirt that is striped on the top with a wide yellow layer on the bottom trimmed with a pinking shears. She has a turquoise underskirt trimmed with lace and is wearing yellow panties. Her torso is mostly covered with a purple shawl. She is wearing a tall straw hat with fruit inside and is also carrying a straw basket with fruit. The hat and basket appear to be made from stiff coconut fibers or other natural material. The hat has a typed label "TRINIDAD W.I." She has large gold hoop earrings and a necklace with two black beads. The doll has hand crafted shoes and can stand on its own for display. This doll is from my mother's collection. Her notecard indicates she acquired it in July 1986 (previously owned).
