Beautifully inlaid with delicately dyed strawin a pattern of unusual three-dimensionality - with a slightly raised central oval panel of sophisticatedmaze-like design surrounded by an expertly applied intricate border ofapplied layered fan-like flower heads, stems and leaves.It catches the light beautifully The sides are highlighted by varicoloured horizontal stripes.Marbled paper pasted to the base. Of uncertain age and origin - possibly Chinese?It has a slightly Deco look so perhaps dating to the 1920's or 1930's. Lined in padded red silk.
