Description: This is a 100% original Jean Hoefler, King Arthur's Castle made in West Germany in the early 1970's. 16 toy knights and horses are included. Jean Hoefler produced five different variations of this castle, (the differences being in the size, shape, and the color of the plastic castle, ramp and base.) This "Big" King Arthur's Castle is grey with red roofs, has a tan base, a brown approach ramp and brown courtyard grounds. When assembled it sits on the raised base, with the approach ramp reached by the drawbridge. There are three towers, a castle keep building, a well in the courtyard, and a dungeon with a staircase leading down into it. The detail is excellent! When assembled, the raised base is 22"x 22" square by 7" high. The tallest tower is 12" tall. This castle is in vintage very good condition. One of the 8 connector pins is split (but still functional), the eagle flag has wear from storage, one dungeon door is missing, the other dungeon door has a damaged upper tab, the "eagle" front door has a damaged lower tab, a pin is broken off of one of the "keep" walls, two pins are broken off the one of the smaller tower walls, but they do not affect assembly, the castle fits together very nicely. The hinges for the drawbridge and the keep building door are intact and unbroken. The drawbridge chain is included, as is the well bucket and crank. The pin that attaches the flag pole to the platform on the big tower is also intact and fully functional. There are 11 silver plastic knights in 8 different poses, and 5 black horses for the mounted knights. These figures were original to the set which came with "16 knight figures and horses", so the original 16 figures (including the horses) are all here. The knights and horses are all in vintage excellent condition. Please look over the photographs carefully to determine the condition for yourself. This item comes "as is" and the sale is final.
