Description: 🍺 Vintage All Heil Bicycle Scene THEWALT Lidded Stein #6 Very nice lidded stein marked as an Original THEWALT. The main stein depicts a bicyclist riding away from a village with a banner that says “All Heil”. Evidently, “All Heil” is an idiomatic German greeting/motto associated with bicycling, effectively meaning “safe travels”. On each side of the main picture are plants with green stems/leaves and flowers with orange centers and tan petals. The handle was fashioned to look like intertwined vines and is dark brown. It is nicely painted with earthy colors -greens, browns, tans, blue sky, and tan/orange flowers. The band at the bottom and 2 at the top remind me of bicycle tread. The nicely balanced lid has several tiers of raised motifs culminating in the acorn shaped finale and ornate thumb lift. The bottom is marked ORIGINAL THEWALT with a stylized “T” in the middle of a triangle; ALT-GRENZAU 1894, LIMITED EDITION (with several zeros – hard to read but seem to be at least three or four 0s), WESTERN GERMANY and 111 (I assume this is the mold number). The Alt (Old) Grenzau mark was applied to modern era steins made based on the old molds of Wilhelm Kamp and others. The 1894 date on this mark refers to the date actual production started at Thewalt (not the production of this stein which is modern era). Underneath the handle, the stein is number as 6. My father-in-law was a collector of steins and we inherited this stein in 2000. It was likely stored in the box since his original purchase and has certainly never been used. I am certainly not a stein expert so please do your own research and validate any and all of the above information. The stein is in very good conditions with no issues that I can detect (no cracks, chips, etc.). Please see all pictures, ask for additional pictures or ask questions so you are satisfied.
