Description: Offered is a vintage Alfred Philippe designed Crown Trifari dimensional gold BUTTERFLY smokey rhinestone brooch in a lovely gift box. This gold toned matte & high polish piece is in fine condition, without tarnish or discoloration. This exquisite retro classic butterfly brooch features a brushed gold tone with gray sparkling rhinestones, capturing the essence of timeless design. In excellent condition it showcases the elegance of the bygone era with a graceful flowing shape and detailed edges in highly polished and brushed gold. Signed Trifari ⓒ dates this beauty from the 1960s. Krussman in 1918 and later added a third partner, Carl Fishel. In 1930 Trifari hired Alfred Philippe as head designer, and that is when the company really began to thrive. Philippe’s background designing very high-end fine jewelry for firms like Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels brought a wonderful sense of luxury and style to the company. Pieces by Philippe are highly sought after and have recently greatly increased in price. Trifari as it was ceased production in 1999. In 2000, the company was sold to Liz Claiborne, and production was moved overseas. Since then, lesser quality jewelry has been mass-produced without any stamping on the back of the jewelry.
