The young soldier is in UNIFORM holding his French or Belgian musket with a brass handled saber bayonet attached. He is wearing a 9 button frock coat, a bummer cap on his head, and "shortened" kersey blue trousers. The photo was taken in the photographer's studio with a camp scene backdrop.
