Description: ultra rare Conn Mezzo Soprano saxophone in F formerly owned by Eugene Rousseau Conn made F mezzos for a short period from 1927-1929. Their rollout coincided with the great depression and sales were miserable; as such the stock of instruments were purposely damaged and used for training at Conn's instrument repair school. The instrument was meticulously restored, including modern pads, and is in great mechanical condition. It plays well and I have used it sparingly during the years that I have owned it. There is slight discoloration visible where the instrument had been previously damaged. This instrument came to me in a modern Eb alto case and no mouthpiece. It will be shipped securely in the same alto case. I include here a mouthpiece made by Frank Catalano designed specially for the F mezzo. I use standard alto reeds which need to be slightly narrowed to fit. I've set shipping at $500; happy to adjust this to actual cost of materials/shipping/insurance after the sale.
