Ukr./Can. M. Levytsky's realist work: "Les Danseurs du Moulin Rouge" (1956)

Description: Ukrainian/Canadian realist expressionist artist Myron Levytsky's (1913-1993) "Les Danseurs du Moulin Rouge" (Historic Paris cabaret) is a signed oil painting on heavy cardboard. Produced in 1956, this medium-sized piece measures 22" in width/length, and 19.5" in height - including the frame (Deduct 4" from each measurement for only the canvas size!). Framed and handmade, the painting features a statuesque lead cabaret dancer, with the line dancers behind her. This piece exhibits Levytsky's early years in Paris, France following the 2nd W.W, from 1956-1958. This unique piece is perfect for collectors of contemporary art, and realist expressionism who would entertain to acquire something totally different from this renowned Ukrainian Canadian artist. Levytsky wanted to extend his artisitic expression beyond the limits of his Ukrainian diaspora community into areas of art and motif rarely broached by his fellow contemporaries. He painted in many traditional styles, re. portraiture, urban landscapes, historic scenes, icons/iconostases, cubism, abstract & graphic styles, but this one painting is rarely unique, risqué, and full of bawdy animation furnished by the dancers of the cabaret. What a night it must have been for the young artist following the horrendous war years!
