Description: This item for sale is a primitive style hand thrown pottery vessel. This may be called a bread bowl. This is done in brown pottery with dark brown glaze. The incised pattern is a crescent and dot shape. This reminds me of an Australian symbol, but I am not sure of its origin. This has an unglazed bottom with the initials DGW incised in the clay before firing. There is a hairline crack in the bottom, which seems to have been formed during production. Parts of the glaze have the appearance that something brushed up against it while it was still wet (see pictures). This pot is 5-1/2" tall, and 8" in diameter. The top opening measures 4". This is a heavy, heavy piece of primitive style pottery. I have researched the initials, but cannot determine the artist that made this piece of pottery. I would appreciate any information that could be offered about its origin. Thanks for looking!
