Description: • For Your Consideration: • A 1994 HARDCOVER Reissue of a 17th-Century CHRISTIAN Classic: • In VG/VG+ Condition: • “THE TRUE CHRISTIAN’S LOVE TO THE UNSEEN CHRIST” (Soli Deo Gloria Publications, 1994) (Hardcover, Second Edition Thus) • SUBTITLE: “Or, A Discourse, Chiefly Tending to Excite and Promote the Decaying Love of CHRIST in the Hearts of Christians with An Appendix Concerning CHRIST’s Manifestation of Himself to Them that Love Him…to Which Is Now Added a Sketch of The Life of the Author” • BY THOMAS VINCENT (1634-1678) • “THOMAS VINCENT was born in May, 1634. Both his father and brother were prominent ministers. He graduated from Christ’s Church, Oxford, and appears to have entered into the ministry very early. It was said of him that he memorized the entire New Testament as well as the Psalms. “He was rector of St. Mary Magdalen in Milk-Street, London, until he was ejected in 1662 by the Bartholemew Act. Out of his beloved pulpit, he gave himself over to the education of youth. When the plague of 1165, came, however , VINCENTbecame the friend of the afflicted, offering comfort and assistance to the diseased and dying. “GOD protected him during this time, for sixty-eight thousand died of the plague in London alone that year, seven in VINCENT’s own household, yet he had perfect health during the entire ordeal…. THE TRUE CHRISTIAN’S LOVE TO THE UNSEEN CHRIST was first published in the 17th century. This SOLI DEO GLORIA reprint, in which spelling, formatting, and grammar changes have been made, is © 1993 by SOLI DEO GLORIA and DON KISTLER.”—THE PUBLISHER • “Christians…owe a debt of gratitude to SOLI DEO GLORIA for the republication of this book. I wish it a wide readership. It is a much-needed tonic for a cold and decaying church. Please don’t skim its pages or sample it in sips and spoonfuls. Drink deeply of it and let it quench your soul’s craving. The truth it contains will transform your walk with our blessed LORD.” —JOHN MACARTHUR, FROM HIS FOREWORD • “The only thing we are sure of in life is that this life would end for sure. Explore how you can know for sure where we are going and what it truly takes to get there. This book helps to unmask the false teachings that is all around and saturates our culture.”—SANDRA, AMAZON REVIEW • “The message within this book will train you to think beyond a shallow spirituality….”—RAZE, AMAZON REVIEW • “I would be lying if I said I fully understood this book. I reread most of the book trying to decode what I didn’t understand. However, what I did understand was amazing. This is an earnest call to intimacy with CHRIST. This work was very Puritan, it felt like something you’d find in OWEN or BAXTER.”—ALEX MCEWEN, GOODREADS REVIEW • • For other details about this book, please see below. • TITLE: “THE TRUE CHRISTIAN’S LOVE TO THE UNSEEN CHRIST” AUTHOR: THOMAS VINCENT FOREWORD: JOHN MACARTHUR TRANSLATOR: JOHN DUVAL TYPE: HARDCOVER PUBLISHER, LOCALE, & YEAR: Solo Deo Gloria Publications (Morgan, PA), 1994 EDITION: First Edition Thus, Second Printing* *RE: On the Copyright Page, the statement “Second Printing, 1994”—with no later printings listed.
