Description: This charming figurine is a mid-century rendering of a model created by Professor Theodor Karner* for Nymphenburg Porcelain in 1905. I love the soft color and the hint of a smile on the face of the mouse holding the biscuit. Centuries of experience and skill with impeccable finishes and traditional techniques such as underglaze painting make it possible for the Nymphenburg craftsmen to create such wonderful porcelain animals imbued with an inner life. This is a kind of artistry that you simply will not find anywhere else. This Mice with a Biscuit figurine is in well-kept, displayed condition with no chips, cracks or breaks or repairs. Fully marked on its base, it has the green Western Germany underglaze mark indicating that it was made between 1949 and 1975. It's also marked on the side of the base with the Nymphenburg's blue Bavarian shield mark. Impressed marks: 422 (model number) and 6 (hand painting style) 3.5" H x 4.5" L x 2" W *Known primarily for his highly popular and prized animal figurines, Professor Theodor Kärner (1884-1966) was one of Germany’s most distinguished porcelain artists. Kärner’s master craftsmanship and artistry were key to his employment at several prominent German porcelain factories over the course of his career, including Nymphenburg, Rosenthal, Allach, and Eschenbach.
