The plate features a beautiful blend of colors and symbols that represent the Kiowa culture. It is a perfect addition to any collection of Native American pottery. This Native American Indian red pottery plate was created by Thelma Tin Can Toehay Chapman, who lived from 1928-2002. Toehay was a well known Kiowa-Apache plains Indian, Indian potter, artist, and craftswoman. She was trained in pottery wheel techniques at Indian City, Anadarko, Oklahoma in the early 70s by Peter Jones, a Seneca Indian. Her pottery can be found in different sizes and shapes, many with her signature hand painted ornamental designs. Toehay's pottery was sold at crafts shows and her studio in Anadarko.
