Description: Vintage, Stunning Collection of Twelve Rosenthal Aladdin Plate series by Bjorn Wiinblad. Wall hangings. This is a rare circa 1979-80s complete collection of twelve 6.25" Rosenthal plates. The Danish artist who created them was Bjorn Wiinblad (deceased) who was the man of the year in New York in 1985 and in 1995 was awarded the prize of Culture of the Scandinavian-American Foundation. This series is a fine example of the exquisite work so typical of the now defunct Rosenthal factory of Southern Bavaria and includes twelve central scenes from the story of Aladdin and the magic lamp '1001 nights'. Each limited edition plate was lovingly painted in brilliant colors in intense cobalt blue with gilt ornamentation. Each stunning plate is artist signed. The motifs include: 1) Aladdin and the Magic Lamp; 2) Aladdin Plays with the Street Urchins; 3) Aladdin Meets the Magician; 4) Aladdin Imprisoned; 5)The Spirit of the Ring Flies Aladdin Out of the Enchanted Garden; 6) Aladdin Sees the Beautiful Princess; 7)The Genie of the Lamp Appears. Before Aladdin's Mother; 8) Aladdin's Mother Brings the Sultan Fruit from the Enchanted Garden; 9) Aladdin Rides to the Sultan's Palace; 10) The Genie of the Lamp Builds a Palace for Aladdin; 11) Aladdin Marries the Beautiful Princess; 12) They Lived Happily and Gratefully. Excellent Vintage Condition. Some of the boxes show minor wear just from storage and age. At the time of this listing I have other Bjrn Wiinblad items if you'd care to take a look.
