Description: [CELTISM - ARCHEOLOGY - REGIONALISM - ART AND HISTORY - BUGEY] Pierre-Jean-Jacques BACON TACON1738-1817 Born in Oyonnax in Ain on July 17, 1738 and died in Mars 1817.A politician, he founded his own patriotic club and was received into the Society of Jacobins. He was also a member of the secret police under the Directory, antiques dealer in Lyon in 1800, named Count of the Holy Roman Empire in 1767 by the Duke of Württemberg. He gave up his title of count in July 1789.This original character with a strange name would have been a doctor, attached to the medical service of Catherine II of Russia. He arrived in Saint Honoré les Bains around 1812 after an adventurous and eventful life. A passionate archaeologist, he had, he said, found documents on the spa town in the dust of German libraries and wanted to restore the luster of the ancient establishment. In particular, he built a swimming pool divided into compartments by wooden partitions and invented a primitive shower system. Not enough customers came, Bacon-Tacon, who was not rich, found himself completely ruined. We attribute these words to him: “My poor dog lives very badly and I live like a dog and yet we keep treasures”He had to resolve to sell his last possession: a box enriched with diamonds which had been given to him in the name of the Empress of Russia. Alas! The diamonds turned out to be rhinestones. It was the final blow, he left the country permanently in the company of his large Siberian dog and died 4 years later in the greatest distress.(Source GenNièvre-Paule Ranty website) -Text in French We sell herePierre JJ BACON-TACON Research on Celtic Origins, Mainly on those of Bugey considered as Cradle of the Celtic DeltaComplete work in 2 volumesOriginal edition for both volumes First Printing Published by Imprimerie De P.
