Description: Beautiful, ornate Spanish Model 1860 cavalry officer sword made in Toledo in 1866. This is a very fine sabre with detailed, matching etchings on blade, guard, backstrap/pommel, and throat/chape of black leather scabbard. The blade is etched "Fabrica de Toledo, 1866" and bears the coat of arms and crest of Isabella II. Shagreen on grip is almost 100% and grip wire is all present, although one wrap has come partially undone. Blade and guard in very nice shape with uniform patina. Red velvet washer worn but still intact. Leather scabbard shows some wear but in very good condition. Throat piece of scabbard does slide upwards but does not come off. Sword weighs 1 lb 8 ozs and blade is 35" long. A beautiful private purchase Spanish cavalry officer sword.
