Description: Here is a special offering of a vintage and possibly ‘one of a kind’ knife made by a famous American ARTSMITH Sid Birt. Renowned for his fantastic large Damascus Art Daggers and later for the knives the Franklin Mint put out with his name as designer. The blade swells towards the point and then tapers quickly to a point…a kind of like the shape of a beaver’s tail. The blade thickness tapers to the edge .. like a ‘V’. This 40 year old blade needs a polish to become mirror like. It is mostly smooth other than a scratch towards the point nearer to the spine on the left side of the blade. The dark marks near the spine on the right side can be polished away. The feel of the blade surface there is almost glasslike except for what remains of some the OLD peppering …on both sides. They are not nail catchers or any real feel other than smooth… but they are there. I’ve lowered the price to help offset this issue. Blade specs: thicker than 1/8” across spine, nearer 3/16”. Just over a 6.5 inch long blade and 2+inch wide at belly. A 1.5 inch long reduced guard ferrule. The 4.75 inch antler/leather washer handle is secure and solid in place. No pins! Overall 11.75 inches Sid Birt was a definitely ‘ONE OF A KIND’ …as are his knives. Priority shipping with insurance and tracking
