Description: Here's a very cool, vintage Samick featuring a cream body (not sure what the wood is, likely ash or alder, but don't quote me on that) with black binding, an original speedloader Floyd-licensed trem, original pickups and tuners, rosewood fingerboard with maple neck. Also has some very cool custom features. Here's the full rundown: • Frankenstein decal which can be peeled off; it's not painted on • Fingerboard and headstock have been painted black with matte finish to match the black binding • Black input jack • Glow-in-the-dark side fret markers, which can be peeled off. Hit 'em with a black light and they'll glow bright on dark stages • Fender-style Micro-Tilt at neck heel so neck heel can be adjusted with the nut locking wrench; no shimming required (I add this mod to all my bolt-ons which makes a huge difference) • Working truss rod at headstock • Original Samick tuners • Alley key holder (guitar didn't come with the screws, so I've attached a rare-earth magnet which is far easier and faster) • Upgraded Floyd locking nut replacing the original which wasn't great • Edwards quick-release locking clamp for E & A strings which allows for quick drop-D tuning. To use, you simply flip the clamp, re-tune, then press the clamp back down. To remove the latch and clamp, simply loosen the thumb screw. Tighten or loosen the thumbscrew based on string gauge. Right now, it's set for 42 & 36, • Original passive Samick bridge humbucker • Original passive Samick single coil neck pickup • Original humbucker / coil-tap / off switch for bridge pickup • Original neck pickup on-off switch • 500k volume pot • Rapid-fire killswitch • 12-position passive Kelling varitone switch; the marker dots were added to mark my fav positions; could probably be removed with some solvent and steel wool if you want • Original Floyd-licensed speedloader tremolo • Aftermarket Floyd chrome fine tuners (the original guitar did not come with fine tuners; these fit but are larger than the originals. You get SOME travel out of them but not like you get on a typical Floyd. Since this is a speedloader, the trem is non-locking at the bridge, so up to you if you want to lock the strings at the nut. Other sellers claim this model is double locking. It is NOT. Just locks at the nut, hence the need for fine tuners if you lock the strings. These aftermarket ones do the job, but you don't get a lot of play. If you don't want to lock the nut, just remove the fine tuners and/or the locking nut and use the Edwards clamp on a different Floyd-equipped guitar!) • Decent sized trem block • Low action for fast playability; no dead spots I'm pretty sure the guitar didn't come with a trem arm which means I added the one pictured from another Floyd. I think I used some heat-shrink to make the arm fit but since it's fitting and works I don't wanna remove it; it has a TINY amount of play but nothing crazy. When shipping, I want to keep the arm in, so I will loosen all the strings FYI. The guitar has some minor wear, but nothing too hideous. I recommend replacing the springs with some noiseless ones. I can't find the spring cover; I never use them so I probably tossed it at some point. Because it's set up for quick drop-D tuning, the bridge only dive bombs. If you decide to have it floating, I'd replace the Edwards clamp with a Floyd clamp. Up to you. I've done my best to describe this cool piece. Ask questions if you have any.
