RARE SONY TC-880-2 Reel to Reel, Works Great, SERIAL NO. 10003

Description: Rare SONY TC-880-2 Reel to Reel, Works Great, Serial No. 10003, Restored This came from the original owner who used it in his recording studio in 1977. It is serial number 10003, so this is the third SONY TC-880-2 ever made. Decks 1 & 2 may still be out there, but they likely aren't for sale. This was SONY's flagship reel to reel and only a few hundred were made. It sold for $2,600 in 1977 ($13,000+ today) and is highly sought after. This is a chance to own a piece of SONY history. Mechanically, everything worked great when I got it, but the rear inputs were not functioning. Replacement of a cracked edge connector (see photos) on the PCB board fixed the issue. It now plays and records correctly (see video). All lights, meters, switches, functions (FF, REW, Pause, Counter, etc.) work correctly. The heads appear fine and have not been relapped or messed with. The heads have been cleaned and demagnetized. All inputs have been tested and work, including the front mic inputs and rear mic inputs. The power cord is not the original, but works appropriately. The Pioneer hubs are not included, but the original SONY hub and SONY take up reel are included. I will also include the Maxell XLII metal reel shown in the video. This is an 80lb RTR deck, and I prefer door to door shipping (USHIP), or pick-up. I can work with the buyer on shipping, as I don't want this damaged in any way.
