November 27, 1898. Without location [Paris], without name [Imprimerie Chaix], 1898. 12 x 19 cm folded, 3.20 mx 19 cm unfolded. Folding brochure forming a booklet, cover illustrated and printed in blue. Extremely rare illustrated menu and leaflet from the banquet organized to celebrate the publication of the 100th issue of the daily newspaper Le Petit Bleu (from Paris), founded on August 4, 1898 by brothers Charles and Gustave Simon. One of 20 copies on Japan, out of a print run of 120. It offers portraits of 30 personalities management or editorial staff (including Henri de Weindel, first editorial secretary, Emile Blavet, editor-in-chief, Rodolphe Darzens, Georges Redon...), produced by W. Luc (painter and designer), as well as 4 scenes additional, red (sanguine) in color. The newspaper Le Petit Bleu de Paris shares two characteristics with the European edition of the New York Herald: the sponsor, James Gordon Bennett junior, and printing on linotype, (which makes them the pioneers of the Parisian press in this area) . This original menu which unfolds to a length of 3.20 m, uses the colors of the newspaper which, printed in black on white paper, offered a blue title and red advertisements on the fourth page. The offices were located at No. 5 rue du Helder (Paris 9th). Henri Avenel was its director at the beginning of the 20th century (1901-1903). Publication ceased during the debacle on June 9, 1940, after several years of financial and material difficulties. Stains, pitting and old traces of moisture on the cover, marginal fold on 3 panels, otherwise beautiful state of conservation. _Bookstore L’Art et la Manner19 Route de Pithiviers45300 BOYNESFranceMember of SLAM and LILA(National Union of Ancient and Modern Bookstores /International League of Old Booksellers)ILAB (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers) English spoken Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any inquiry The greatest care is taken in the description of the works, however, unintentional errors may be made.
