This clock is quite gorgeous featuring a carved wooden case, brass dial, and an 8 bell, 5 gong triple chain fusee movement There is also a commemorative plate at the bottom that reads “Presented to F.C. Drabble Esq by the employees and a few friends on his retirement after 45 years services as manager to Mess RS Yates Haywood & Co Effingham Works Rotterdam March 6th 1896” The clock is signed on the movement by Winterhalder & Hofmeier (W&H Sch). Winterhalder & Hofmeier was a German company that was known for making high quality timepieces for the English market. The clock has quarter strike features in which the 8 bells (or 5 gongs) play a tune. The 8 bells can be switched to “off” or has the option to play on 5 gongs instead if desired. This clock is huge and extremely heavy. 14 x 9.4 x 19.75 inches. Just to get a sense of the immense size, the movement plates are about 7.75 x 9.25 inches The clock appears to be in overall good condition. The movement is was last serviced in 2024 It is currently running.
