Description: Railroad Train Drumhead light Advertisement Great Northern Railway This is a reproduction drumhead that are a stiff (yet flexible) plastic and transparent on both sides. They were used for educational purposes for a railroad transportation college course. What people were doing was creating reproduction drum heads because the printing on them was quite nice and transparent. These were often used as advertisements for passenger trains. The top trains, which often had names, were heavily promoted. One device used to advertise and identify theses trains was a drumhead- a round, illuminated sign bearing the train's logo attached to the rear of the last car. The first drumheads were large and round, much like a bass drum, hence their name. This drumhead measures 11" x 11"
