Description: PICTURE POST. Vol 1 No 11. 1938 10 x 13 inches (26 x 33 cms), 80 pages. Picture Post was a pioneering exponent of photo-journalism,published in the United Kingdom from 1938 to 1957 andusing the work of some of the leading photographers of the time. Beginning publication immediately before the start of World War II, its editorial stance was liberal, anti-fascistand populist. It campaigned strenuously against thepersecution of the Jews in Germany. The photo articles covered a myriad of subjects andmanaged to get something for everyone in each issue. Among much else this issue includes: child star Freddie Bartholomew: artist George Belcher: the Salvation Army": war minister Hore-Belisha: Night Out in London + lots more. These early issues are probably scarcer than Vol 1 No 1as people tended to keep first issues of new magazines. Staples badly rusted, otherwise a very good bright, clean copy. I am listing a group of early issues of this magazine today. To view these please visit my ebay shop and selectMagazines > Picture Post from the menu on the left. Postage: unfortunately the size of this magazine means, that to send it unfolded, the Royal Mail consider it a parcel rather than a packet, which makes postage costs rather more than one would wish. However, combined purchases sent together do offer good savings. I always have an interesting selection of magazines, comics and printed collectables at sensible prices on eBay.Why not check it out from time to time? **********************
