Description: For sale is an original WWII USAAF A-2 leather flight jacket, named to S/Sgt. Bernard N. Felling. Felling was a waist gunner on a B-24, “Bachelor Blitz” (42-78441), assigned to the 722nd Bomb Squadron, 450th Bomb Group. The jacket is a rare “no name" contract, also known as the S.H. Knopf contract (42-18246-P). There are signs of wear, including some soiling, fraying and/or holes. There’s been some repairs that were professionally done by Himel Bros. Leather, including repairs to the leather and knits. The Talon zipper works. The front of the jacket has Felling’s leather name tag and a very worn patch, which unfortunately isn’t identifiable, but my guess is that it’s a “Holy Joe” (722nd Bomb Squadron) patch. The back of the jacket has art, including “Bachelor’s Blitz,” a B-24, the outline of a pinup, and some P-38s. No size tag, but it’s a larger size. Please review the measurements below (approximates, in inches): Armpit to Armpit (across, flat): 23 to 23.25 Sleeve (from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve): 26.25 Shoulder to shoulder: 19.5 to 19.75 Length (from base of collar to bottom of back): 26 *** This item is sold as-is.
