Description: This unique original artwork features an illustration of Pete Townshend's Gibson SG Special, from George Morgan. Hand drawn in ink on white 280 gsm A2 size Bristol Board this signed and dated colour illustration is offered unframed. Pete Townshend's 1967 cherry red Gibson SG Special as played at Woodstock 1969. Pete Townshend played a number of cherry red Gibson SG Specials in the studio and live performances through the late 60s into the 70s. It was this same model he played when The Who performed on the Rolling Stones’ Rock and Roll Circus, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969 then on the band’s first live album Live at Leeds. Pete destroyed most of his SG’s during exuberant stage performances but one of the rare survivors is this 1967 model which carries serial number 884484 and was gifted to Tony Haslam. The illustration of this famous guitar is original and has been produced by George Morgan following extensive research.
