For the first time, an African-American is doing color commentary with Jackson, the only year Jackie Robinson did major league broadcast work! This rare partial TV broadcast begins with reel #2 of 5 as Bob Aspromonte leads off the home second inning for the Astros, and ends after the 5-run Dodger 4th with L.A. having just taken a 5-0 lead. The game then picks up again at the end of the top of the 7th inning and finishes during the Astros 8th inning with one out and the bases loaded as Don Drysdale is called in to relieve Podres. Even partial-game TV broadcasts from before the days of home VCR’s (1975) are very rare. This is the oldest TV broadcast involving the Astros known, as well as the only ABC-TV MLBB game in existence.
