Description: NEW YORK (1927) She was built by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, Germany for the Hamburg-American Line as a 21,455 GT ship. Dimensions of 602'x72'. Twin-screw, 16 knots steam turbines, two masts and two funnels. Maiden voyage: Hamburg-Southampton-Cherbourg-New York May 13, 1927. Speed was increased to 20 knots by having new steam turbines installed in 1930. She also was lengthened to 645' 23,337 GT in 1934. Bombed and sunk by air attack at Kiel, April 3, 1945.
