Description: Mid to Late 16th CenturyHeavy Brass North European Pricket Candlestick. Cica 1580. Pricket candlesticks of this small size were generally for the household and not religious as is often mistaken and being bronze or brass they were normally first owned by the wealthy as most people could not afford to buy or make large candles let alone have a basemetal candlestick to mount it in. Everyone else usaully made rushlights or small candlesticks held in inferior wooden and iron holders or just plain wood. In very good original condition.
