Description: Basket of Shaker design with handle made by renowned basket maker Martha Wetherbee. The basket is signed with her initials 'MW' on the rim. The basket measures approximately 11.5" in diameter x 6" high (12" overall height including handle). While the condition of the basket is excellent, the rim is not perfectly round as 4" of the rim is slightly indented making the diameter of the rim 11.25" where the slight indentation is. This basket is from a collection of baskets including some which were acquired directly from Martha Wetherbee who was renowned for her fine hand-crafted reproductions of Shaker baskets. For provenance purposes is shown an image of a 1981 inscription by Martha Wetherbee in her sales booklet to the former owners of this basket expressing her appreciation for their support. The image of the inscribed sales booklet is shown for provenance purposes only. Please be aware that the actual inscribed sales booklet itself is being retained by the descendants of the previous owners of this basket and will NOT be included with the sale of this basket. I will include for the purchaser of this basket just a printed copy of the image showing the inscription. ACCURACY OF DESCRIPTION, CONDITION AND IMAGES: The item is described as accurately as possible along with any condition issues. The images show the quality of the item as accurately as possible although because the images were taken using a camera with flash the resulting images may show bright spots or a shine, shadows or color tone variations from flash use and reflection. Computer screens can also vary in how they show images of items so there may possibly be some tonal variation seen depending on the computer screen from which the images are viewed.
