The map is filled with excellent topographic details on cities, towns, rivers, lakes, fjords, islands and forests. A strapwork title cartouche, two sailing ships and a strapwork mileage scales adorn the map. German text at the verso. 👨🦳 Mapmaker: Gerard Mercator (1512 – 1594) was a Flemish geographer, cosmographer and cartographer. He is most renowned for creating the 1569 world map based on a new projection which represented sailing courses of constant bearing (rhumb lines) as straight lines—an innovation that is still employed in nautical charts. 👴 Jodocus Hondius the Elder (1563-1612) was a Flemish and Dutch engraver and cartographer. 🕑 Date: 1627 ( dated ) 🖼 Paper size: cm 56,9 x 46,4 📌 Very strong and dark impression on good paper.
