This listing is for a KING size bed with a woodburned, laser engraved design on headboard, and it had more of the inner dark left on the logs for a nice contrasting finish. It also has a natural stain and 3 coats of clear lacquer finish for a nice smooth, long lasting finish. There may be some checking in the logs, which is characteristic of the lodgepole pine over a period of time which will not diminish the quality of your furniture but rather add character. The wood is dry when we assemble the beds so the checking won't affect the strength of the bed. We choose to work with lodgepole pine as it grows naturally in the forests of NW montana and is known for its superior strength to weight ratio. It is also straighter, thus making it easier to work the raw wood into the highest quality furniture possible. Our lodge pole pine is harvested in the Kootenai National Forest via a very selective process. Skilled woodsmen select each tree with an attentive eye toward the quality, straightness and size of each specimen. After felling, each piece is hand carried to the road to ensure both the tree and the environment remain unharmed. Then each log is hand peeled, using the skip-peel method where some of the inner bark is left on, creating a beautiful rustic piece of furniture for your home, lodge or cabin.
