See, you have to wear an old, obviously original tee from back in the day, the kind that looks like an Iron Maiden shirt should look, in the condition that it should be in after 34 years: totally sturdy with tons of life left, but completely lived-in, slept in, passed out in, smoked in, gotten drunk in, clearing tables in the cafeteria to work off your detentions in, smoking weed under the bleechers in, selling weed down by the bowling alley in, getting baked and watching Spinal Tap with your stoner friends in, waiting outside the principal's office for skipping class in, trying to make a bong out of one of those hard plastic honey bear bottles in... Whenever I sell one of these headbanger tees (oddly enough, they always go pretty quickly), I like to imagine the original owner, what he must look like now and what he's doing. Probably not the type of dude who took wicked good care of himself, and hence it's hard to imagine that he'd still fit into it. But we can. And we should. Because you can rock it ironically or unironically. It's timeless. It just works.
