Inscribed 1st Printing Portrait Of My Father by Lawrence Clark Powell! Excellent

Description: Here is a beautiful collectible copy of a fascinating piece of biographical writing. This is Portrait Of My Father by bookman, book collector, librarian, and author Lawrence Clark Powell. This is a first edition first printing as shown by the matching dates of 1986 on both the title page and the copyright page. This particular copy has been inscribed by the author quite casually as “Larry Powell” on the half title page as shown. This copy is quite lovely. The binding is square, tight, and the text is immaculate throughout with the exception of four pages that have what appears to be random underlining or check marks but are quite minimal to these four pages. The title page has the four pages listed and the corresponding words marked. The first appears to be a “point” of the first printing……no apostrophe. On the same page is a previous book seller’s pencil notations. The mustard colored boards are spotless as is black cloth spine as shown. The gold gilt lettering on the spine is near pristine in condition also as shown. The bottom spine end shows some slight wear possibly from shelving. All four corners are in excellent condition. The dust jacket is complete as has the original price present on the front flap. There is little to no wear whatsoever to this jacket but for a extremely light fade to the spine. The front panel photograph of G. Harold Powell, the author’s father, is by famed photographer and southwestern documentarian Edward Weston. The jacket comes in a Mylar protector which can easily be removed should you wish to. This copy will make a wonderful addition to any collection or library.
