He was 92 years old. Mr. Boughton, whose father was a professor at Ohio University and later was head of the English department at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, graduated from Erasmus in 1902. He held a degree from Harvard University. As a chemist, he was awarded a series of patents. His literary works included poetry, history, fiction, biography and children's books. At Harvard, Mr. Boughton spent 16 years as a chemist and was an editorial assistant for The Journal of the American Chemical Society. He was also a member of the Photographic Society of America.
