Charles Henri Toussaint dit Henri Toussaint (10 April 1849 – 25 September 1911) was a French painter, illustrator, and engraver. He is the father of the painter and illustrator Maurice Toussaint (1882-1974). BiographyCharles Henri Toussaint was born in Paris (former 10th arrondissement) on April 10, 18491. He is a pupil of Léon Gaucherel, Alfred-Louis Brunet-Debaines, and Charles Waltner. He was noted at the Salon de Paris in 1874 and was awarded in 1876, 1884, 1899, and 1900. In 1885 he participated in the International Black and White Exhibition where he was awarded a 2nd class silver medal in the 3rd section Engravings. He married Louise Bédelet, daughter of Parisian publisher and bookseller Amédée Bédelet. It is known for its many prints depicting the architecture of Paris2 and provincial cities (Amiens, Rouen, Reims, etc.). He is also credited with studies, including Oxford, Cambridge and Liverpool. Henri Toussaint died in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on September 25, 19113.
