Description: GREEN SEA URCHIN Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis sea hedgehog Sea Urchins can be found in oceans all over the world and are one of the earliest forms of life. Some fossils date back millions of years. They are close relatives of Sand Dollars, Sea Cucumbers, Sea Lilies and Starfish. The Sea Urchin has many predators including Crabs, Eels, Lobsters, Otters and Sea Stars. Many humans consider sea urchins a delicacy as well. This Sea Urchin came from a private collection and is approximately 35 years old. It is very delicate so use for crafting is limited. It would do well in a display where there is little or no handling. Please view the pictures carefully before you buy. All shells have natural imperfections. The Green Sea Urchin in the pictures is what you will receive. The pictures are lighter than the actual specimen. Please excuse lighting, glare and other amateur photographic issues! Message with any questions you have before purchasing. No live specimens were harmed. It is illegal to collect live specimens or living sea creatures from beaches in most states.
