Squeeze glue up into the barrel (for thinner glues insert sideways). Replace the plunger and at the same time you are also pushing glue up toward the tip. Push until the product reaches close to the tip without overflowing and twist on the white tip. Answer: Generally these are one-time use applicators; however, (from a personal perspective) with proper care I am able to get between 1-3 uses from each. I prefer not to waste product therefore I estimate how much glue I will need. After I'm done with the applicator I will squeeze out the remaining glue (which there should not be much glue left if any in the barrel. I twist off the tip, pull out the rod and grab a paperclip. I simply extend the paperclip and use it to remove the excess glue from the white tip, the barrel and the black stopper (which determines the life of the syringe).. How? As long as the black stopper keeps its lubrication that will allow the rod to slide easily back and forth for application. The natural oils from my fingertips will dull it which is why I use a paperclip. I reassemble for next use. I hope this helps.
