Description: GILBERTO GIL – Gilberto Gil. Water 191. NEW CD, this item does not come factory sealed. Originally issued in 1971. This edition issued in 2007. Comes with a 12-page insert booklet with lyrics, photos, and credits. Includes 3 live bonus tracks. Gilberto Gil, his 3rd album to be titled as such. TRACKS: Nega (Photograph Blues), Can’t Find My Way Home, The Three Mushrooms, Babylon, Volkswagen Blues, Mama, One O’Clock Last Morning (20th April, 1970), and Crazy Pop Rock. BONUS TRACKS, LIVE: Can’t Find My Way Home, Up From The Skies, and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. DESCRIPTION: Released in 1971 while Gil was living in London, this is the third self-titled release from the Bossa Nova and Tropicalia legend. Gil recorded this album while in political exile, along with Caetano Veloso, from his native Brazil and its somber, straightforward tone is a noticeable change from the experimental, psychedelic assault of his 1969 long player; in part influenced by his new environment. Featuring 8 originals and a brilliant cover of Steve Winwood’s Can’t Find My Way Home, this (long out of print) Water release also contains 3 live bonus tracks including covers of Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles (a 9+ minute arrangement). It is worth noting that Gil, while based in England, for the first time composed a set of originals with English lyrics, not common in his past work. This time period also marks his first exposure to Reggae music and the Jamaican culture which is reflected in the track Babylon and would affect his later work. THIS ITEM IS NEW AND UNPLAYED. NEW CD: This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their CDs; some have it both ways (for which I have no prior knowledge of or choice when placing my orders). Other companies use resealable clear outer sleeves which are used on some import and domestic releases. If I receive an item this way it will be shipped as I received it and not opened up. Items received unwrapped are placed inside of a resealable clear outer mylar sleeve at the time they are received. All CDs that do not come in an outer packaging wrap are inspected by me prior to shipping. It is not unusual to find small imperfections in the disc, especially on European manufactured CDs; these small imperfections do no affect the play of the disc. If, for any reason, a disc does not play it is fully guaranteed by me and is returnable for refund or replacement (see my return policy below for more details). Also an unsealed jewel case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear. If an unsealed jewel case is received by me broken, it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received with cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the item’s description and will be shipped as is. GFC or GF: Gate fold cover, refers to a style of mini-jacket CDs. S/T: Self-Titled 2/1: This denotes that 2 albums are on 1 single CD. REMAST: Remastered. MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.
