Description: Please visit our eBay store for a complete list of in-stock Civil War relics organized by recovery location. We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on eBay. THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA ~ FROM THE FAMOUS ROSENSTEEL FAMILY COLLECTION OF GETTYSBURG ~ NOTED AS HAVING BEEN ORIGINALLY FOUND BY JOHN CULLISON FROM 1930-1960 ~ An impressive looking fired high-impact (or high-velocity) 3-ring rifle bullet, heavily mangled from impact, likely started out as a .69 caliber 3-ringer, as it weighs 1.1 ounces (I do not believe it to be a Gardner bullet, although it is difficult to tell and does have the typical patina of a Gardner. There does appear to be three individual rings). This artifact was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection of Gettysburg and was in a group of relics that were identified as having been found by John Cullison, and was later acquired by the Rosensteel family. John Cullison hunted between the 1930s and about 1960. His early finds were all "eyeballed" and later he started using a detector (in the 1950's, I believe). This fired musket ball, was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection of Gettysburg. It was in a group of relics in this collection, that were identified as having been found by John Cullison. The relics were acquired directly from the collection in the mid-1990s by The Horse Soldier of Gettysburg and were, afterwards in a private collection for many years. Several Cullison family members had been attributed with finding certain relic grouping, and John's are the most desirable in our opinion. A letter of provenance will be included. All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered. We will not buy or sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally. Thank you for viewing!
