Description: Description: A French late 19th Century Baroque-style Letter Box, exuberantly decorated in the manner of A. C. Boulle with ebonized wood and tortoise shell panels inlaid with tooled gilt bronze trim decoration and having multi colored secondary wood. The interior is lined with a wood. Lock and newer key. All sitting on rococo style Gilt bronze feet. André-Charles Boulle, le joailler du meuble, is the most famous French cabinetmaker and the preeminent artist in the field of marquetry, also known as "Inlay". Boulle was "the most remarkable of all French cabinetmakers". Measures :8.25 inchs tall11.25 inches wide6.25 inches deep Note* This is a used piece over 100 years old. It is in wonderful condition for its age. Has a few minor areas with scratches. It has missing inlay and areas that are fragile with the inlay. Looks like one small chip was glued back on the flat part of the door that opens downward. All these details are to mention but really do not take away from the piece. I did not want to clean it for fear of loosing pieces. Some of the missing areas have a darker stain that blend the color of the loss. Please look at the pictures for any condition questions.
