Description: This First Legion Confederate infantry soldier marching is in 1/30 scale and goes great with 1/30 scale Wm Britain soldiers. They work well in increasing the size of your Confederate marching column. This soldier has a 3-banded rifled musket with his bayonet in the sheath. He has on a brown blanket roll for staying warm at night and has no other gear to stay warm (light marching order for impending combat). His black leather cartridge box has a "CS" box plate on it. He has a painted leather (tarred) haversack with his drinking cup attached to the front of the haversack and a bayonet scabbard on his left hip. He has a percussion cap box on the right side of his CS belt. He's wearing a short brimmed standard-gray forage cap that was popular throughout the war. He's wearing a pair of gaiters on his ankles to keep his pants secure in his brogans so that ticks and chiggers won't drive him mad. He appears to have on a Peter Tait (from Ireland) shell jacket sewn in a color called "cadet-grey", a blue-gray color (combination of cotton and wool) still used today by college cadets at the Virginia Military Institute. A number of photos of Confederate dead in the Petersburg line show them wearing Peter Tait jackets. All-in-all a classic Confederate infantryman on the march during the American Civil War.
