Description: This is an early Mallard Drake Decorative Decoy made by Tom Taber in 1979. It has his signature and date on the underneath. It is typical of his early work in the late 1970's when he was getting very skilled in carving and finishing decoys using a combination of paints and transparent stains. His carvings typically used distressed wood and this one shows that also. It is life size, measuring 15 inches from beak to tail. It is 6 inches tall and 4 3/4 inches wide. It weighs 2 pounds, 2 ounces. If you have read this much of the description you probably are familiar with Tom Taber and his work. We love all of his decoys, early to late, but his later carvings were just stunning and affordable so that ordinary guys could maybe obtain a few. He sold literally 1000's of decoys in cooperation with Ducks Unlimited. If perhaps you collect Tom Taber, no collection of his decoys in complete without one of these early guys. We can ship it within the U.S. for under $15.00 and we accept returns for any reason within 30 days.
