Description: Up for bid is an early European silver tablespoon with unusual marks. The spoon is 8 inches long and weighs 59 grams. It has a large flared swaged drop, beveled handle edges and an upturned fiddle handle. It has never been monogrammed. It is marked with a rampant lion holding a pole, and an [MD] initial mark; both marks are struck twice in the same spot, distorting them. Condition on the spoon is fairly good. There is some bowl tip wear and regular wear from use. An interesting early spoon.
