It's the true first printing with all the required points: the back cover and the rear panel of the jacket both advertise The Cat in the Hat priced at $2.00, the rear jacket flap lists "14 books (up to now)", the ad page at the end lists only 13 books (it omits the Grinch), and the front jacket flap has the original "250/250" price code. Comes with a custom slipcase in green cloth. Condition: Book: Light wear at the top and bottom of the spine; some very light shelfwear on the top and bottom edges of the boards; minor spine lean; 1957 gift inscription in ink on the front free endpaper; pencil name ("Lowell", the giftee) neatly erased from the half-title page. No other markings. It looks like Lowell read it once or twice and then put it away for the next 60 years. Jacket: Light wear at the top and bottom of the spine; lighter wear along the flap folds; spine very slightly faded; a short tear (about 3/8 of an inch) on the top edge of the front panel and a nearly identical tear at the top of the rear panel. Overall, a bright, clean copy of a book not often encountered in this condition. PACKING: Books: I ship books in boxes, with plenty of padding. Pulps: I bag all pulps and include a backer board. For shipping, I’ll sandwich the bagged pulp between oversized pieces of cardboard and ship in either an envelope or a box, depending on the number of pulps and/or the total value.
