Description: OVAL 1/9 PLATE DAGUERREOTYPE OF A HANDSOME IN FINE COAT - ORIGINAL SEALS & INSIDE A VELVET CASE - You are considering a slightly larger than ninth plate oval daguerreotype of a fine looking gentleman in his double-breast overcoat. The image contains the original seals which have obviously prevented the image from air entering the image and creating excessive tarnish. See my second listing photo of the backside of the plate with the seals fully intact. The image is contained in a fully working velvet case. A great daguerreotype at a great price. Good luck to the winner and next caretaker of this unique photographic keepsake. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. These ninth plate daguerreotype is fully sealed as mentioned and shown in my second listing photo. The daguerreotype is therefore in nearly perfect condition, with only the tiniest amount of tarnish and a few sporadic pieces of dust under the cover glass. The fully working case remains the protection for this image, however the exterior velvet flocking has seen a significant amount of wear and loss. The interior displays the image beautifully with the standard silk pillow adjacent to the gentleman's portrait has some age stains, but fully intact. A wonderful cased image would be a great addition to any collector of 19th Century cased images, especially for my asking price.
