Description: I am offering for sale a circa 1789 hand painted metal and paper mache snuff box depicting a battle scene from the French Revolution on the lid and French flags, fasces and the Phrygian cap or liberty bonnet with the slogan, La Liberte Ou La Mort (Liberty or Death) on the bottom. It is in excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina except that the varnish on the lid has dried and crackled over the years. It measures 3 3/4" x 2 7/8" x 1 1/4" high.
