This is usually installed at the bottom of the furnaces suction line with a check valve screen (available in my ebay store) at least two inches from the bottom of your supply tank. The check valve screen, again sold separately, is used to protect this valve from debris so I would suggest going into my store and taking a look. This check valve is to hold constant pressure in your feed system to your furnace and should be installed with the arrow on the check valve pointing in the direction of the oil flow. Please do not install this check valve at the very bottom of your supply tank as debris and sludge will get into the system. Please measure supply line and make sure it ends a couple inches up from the very bottom.
