Description: This is a custom 12" figure commemorating an American character and renowned artist of the Old West, Charles Marion Russell. Charles M. Russell painted over 2,000 pictures depicting the old West. Russell created paintings of beautiful landscapes, cowboys, and Indians. In addition to his paintings Russell also created bronze sculptures. Russell was known as the "cowboy artist" but he was also a great storyteller and author. Charles painted throughout the western United States and around Alberta, Canada. Russell came to Montana in 1880 at the age of 16. Russell worked for a time on a sheep ranch. Later he found work with a hunter and trapper named Jake Hoover. Hoover had a ranch that Russell cowboyed on. The two men would become lifelong friends. Russell gained much of his knowledge of the old West from Hoover. Charles M. Russell was one of the most colorful and interesting figures of the old West. While this figure does not look exactly like Charles M. Russell, there is a bit of a resemblance. This figure was designed mainly for display purposes for the history fan. sold as is.stand included.
