Description: Please take the time to read through my entire item description and view all the photographs. I consistently prepare accurate and detailed descriptions and provide clear close up photographs and video when appropriate for all my listings. The aforementioned notwithstanding, note the photos are still the biggest and most important part of this or any description. As the old saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words". If you would like additional photos or have specific questions just message me and I will respond ASAP. For your consideration is this preowned vintage 1988 BUCK 426ʌ U.S.A. BUCKLITE folding lockblade pocketknife. According to the Buck Knife Company website, the date code "ʌ" stamped along side the model number "426" identifies the year the knife was manufactured as "1988". Refer to description photo #23 to confirm what I described. Since I no longer have a need for this knife, I am offering it for someone else to enjoy. NOTE, THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE KNIFE BROKE APPROXIMATELY ½ INCH OFF THE TIP OF THE BLADE. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE BLADE HAD TO BE MODIFIED BY SHORTENING ITS OVERALL LENGTH, AND RESHAPING IT, IN ORDER TO REMOVE AND MITIGATE THE DAMAGED TIP. IT IS WORTH NOTING, THEY DID AN EXCELLENT RESTORATION ON THE BLADE WHICH ULTIMATELY SAVED IT FROM BEING A TOTAL WASTE. This is a quality built folding lockblade knife that weighs approximately 3.0 ounces by itself. The overall measurement of the knife when closed is approximately 5.0" long. When the blade is opened and extended the overall length of the knife is approximately 8.0" long. The blade, itself measures approximately 3-1/16" long with the actual cutting edge being approximately 2.75" long. Refer to description photos #19, #20, #21 and #22 to confirm the weight and size dimensions and for more details about what I have described. I copied and pasted the following specifications about this model pocket knife directly from the BUCK Knife Company website and am including it below for your further review and consideration. NOTE; THOUGH YOU ARE BIDDING ON A GENUINE VINTAGE BUCK 426ʌ BUCKLITE KNIFE, THE BELOW INFORMATION IS ALSO APPLICABLE TO THE CURRENT PRODUCTION MODEL 426 BUCKLITE III POCKET KNIFE AS DESCRIBED. BuckLite III Lockback Folding Knife The BuckLite III is a 3.75" folding knife from Buck with character. The clip point blade lends itself well to both slicing and piercing tasks alike. The lockblade provides a sturdy locking mechanism and is what Buck is commonly known for. The glass reinforced nylon (GRN) handles feature slight texturing; when paired with the large finger grooves, the BuckLite III's ergonomics are fantastic both bare handed and with gloves. Specifications: Blade Length: 3.75"Closed Length: 4.875"Overall Length: 8.625"Blade Material: 420HC Stainless SteelBlade Style: Clip PointBlade Grind: HollowBlade Finish: SatinHandle Material: Black Glass Reinforced Nylon (GRN)Locking Mechanism: LockbackWeight: 2.10 oz.Made in the USA Noted two condition issues: As previously mentioned, approximately .50” of the end of the blade had been broken off which ultimately resulted in the blade having to be restored by shortening its overall length in order to remove and mitigate the damaged portion. To that end, the knife blade is approximately 3/4" shorter than the original factory blade length. In addition, the cutting edge of the blade, located about .25” from the tip, has (2) two very small approximately 1/16” and less chips along the cutting edge. Refer to close up description photos #16, #17 and #18 for more details. The noted small chips will easily be mitigated and removed when the cutting edge is honed and resharpened. The aforementioned notwithstanding, despite the noted repair/restoration and two small chips along the edge, this pocket knife remains a fully functional and useful piece of equipment that will provide the user with many more years of reliable service. The clip point blade is made out of 420HC stainless steel and has a plain cutting edge. The edge retains a semi-sharp cutting edge but could use a good re-sharpening. The satin finished stainless steel blade surface remains in good condition with minor blemishes and light scratches from prior use. Refer to description photos #1, #2, #3, #4, #6, #13, #14, #15 and #16 for more details about what I have described. The knife’s ricasso is clearly stamped with (3) three lines of Buck branding and a model number which all reads as follows below. Refer to description photos #1, #4, #5, #6, #7 and 13 for more details about the stamping I described. “BUCK” “426ʌ” “U.S.A.” The finger-grooved handles (aka scales) on the knife are made out of black Glass Reinforced Nylon (GRN) which provides extreme durability, easy grip and makes it very comfortably in the hand. The knife is easy to open with the use of a nail notch located along the top edge of the blade. The blade folds back into the handle with a strong snap. The lockback mechanism works perfectly as it securely locks the blade open for reliable strength and safety while using the knife. The knife scales (aka handles) remain in beautiful condition and are smooth and comfortable in the hand and easy to grip. One side of the handles is embossed with the knife brand name “BUCKLITE” as can be confirmed in description photos #1, #4, #8, #9 and #12. Refer to the description photos for more details. As can be verified in the description photos; this preowned and nicely “restored” folding Buck knife is a quality made pocketknife that will provide its new owner with many more decades of dependable use and enjoyment. Overall, the knife remains in good condition for being nearly 37 years old. Please refer to all the description photos to confirm the condition of the knife and for more details about what I have described.
